ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WWJ/AP) – The Macomb Mall is getting an $8-million makeover that will include the addition of a major retailer as well as other stores.
The complex currently houses 85 stores, as well as anchor outlets Sears, Kohls and Old Navy. The mall will add a Dick’s Sporting Goods which will replace the Crowley’s department store. The makeover will include demolition of the Silver Star movie complex. A new theater is planned in its place.
Lormax Stern Development of West Bloomfield bought the mall in the spring.
“We are teed up and ready to go,” said company executive Jason Horton.
The Roseville City Council has approved brownfield rehabilitation financing incentives for the mall makeover.
Don Morandi, Macomb County deputy economic development director, said the brownfield approach is ideal for the project.
